Mechanism

The lithium ferrophosphate or LFP battery, also known as battery life, is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with a lithium iron phosphate cathode that uses FePO4. These have low cost, so they are often used in industrial products because they have an excellent performance and specific power, also the energy density is held for a longer period, allowing the loading and unloading capacity, supporting overloads.

Capacities and lifecycle

These types of batteries have around 2000 cycles of lifespan it means it can last approximately 10 years. This allows it to have multiple advantages such as high thermal stability, withstanding high temperatures, excellent chemical stability, since the cathode is safer and a high power of 3.4 V. These prices are around $ 2.5 per Wh.

Applications

Among the main applications for which they were created can be mentioned aeronautics, automotive, robotics, measuring devices, medical equipment, electronics projects and numerical control machines, transportation, among others.

Advantages

Among the advantages of these batteries it can be mentioned that they are manufactured with an exclusive lithium-iron-phosphate technology, which does not generate any maintenance cost, since it does not require liquids or battery changes, in addition, it is not necessary in these either Handling acids, which makes them extremely safe, does not emit gases so they are environmentally friendly batteries. Another advantage is that they have no memory effect on the charge, the absence of this makes them very versatile, being able to partially charge the time that the user wants since it does not affect the life of the battery.

Disadvantages

However, there are some disadvantages, such as this type of batteries suffer from passivation problems and equalization problems.
