Battery Legislation in Costa Rica

Costa Rican legislation for exoneration of electric cars

Article 9 of Law No. 9518 states that electric vehicles, as defined in article 2 of that law, will benefit from exemption from the general sales tax, the selective consumption tax and the customs value tax, as well as that they will contain a green plate that frees the user from the vehicle restriction in the metropolitan area and exempts them from parking meters.

In Costa Rica, the disposal of batteries and accumulators is regulated by the legislation presented below, so that it seeks to have a better management of these products in order to reduce their potential environmental impact.
